EA Sports UFC 6 Review Analysis

Wins and losses. KOs, TKOs, and submissions. These sensational headline-grabbers are essential, but they only make up one part of the bigger, brutal picture.

The pieces that are arguably more important — the countless bloody knuckles, cuts, gashes, and bruises it took to reach that point — often get lost in all the pre- and post-fight commotion. EA Sports UFC 6 aims to deliver these unforgiving journeys full of pooled sweat, sacrifice, and punishment, with an impressive roster of legendary fighters and curated stories. The game introduces the newest feature, Flow State, which some find gimmicky and out of place compared to the previous games in the series.

Despite this, Flow State does have its moments, especially in the Hall of Legends mode, offering an interactive experience with legendary champions like Max Holloway. The game also features a dedicated UFC Career story and a prologue tale called The Legacy, providing players with multiple options and a better onboarding experience. This emphasis on every fighter having a story sets UFC 6 apart from its predecessor, resonating with players in the brief time since its release.

Developer EA Vancouver's decision to separate the prologue tale from the UFC Career mode adds depth to the gameplay, promising more entertainment and less repetition than UFC 5. With more features like The Gym for fighter collection and training, as well as various online modes, there is still more to explore before finalizing a review score. Stay tuned for further insights on how Flow State impacts fights in online modes and the overall gameplay experience.
