Doom: The Dark Ages - Revelations DLC Review
After just five or so hours with Revelations so far, I already feel confident saying that the new combat elements it brings to the table make the encounters in this DLC the very best Doom: The Dark Ages has to offer.
After just five or so hours with Revelations so far, I already feel confident saying that the new combat elements it brings to the table make the encounters in this DLC the very best Doom: The Dark Ages has to offer.
This DLC’s story picks up right where the main campaign left off, and while you can technically jump straight into it first, you’ll be missing out on some pretty necessary context if you do. The new Chain Spear and refreshed mobility of Revelations bring it closer to the heights of Doom Eternal, making it a must-play for Doom fans.
The Spear and the Shield offer unique combat mechanics, changing the flow of battles significantly. With the addition of the dash ability, combat in The Dark Ages becomes more dynamic and reminiscent of Doom Eternal, offering creative combat expression and new strategies.
As you progress, you unlock more abilities for the Spear, enhancing your combat options. However, managing all these tools can be challenging due to overlapping functions, requiring a learning curve to master the controls. Despite this, the depth of gameplay and variety of combat tactics make Revelations a compelling addition to Doom: The Dark Ages.
There’s still more to explore, from the hub world to the endgame content and classic Doom levels, promising an engaging experience for players. Stay tuned for the full review!
