007 First Light’s TacSim Mode Falls Short of Hitman’s Excellence

I've been sneaking through the same corner of a London museum for two hours, crouching behind display cabinets as I memorize guard positions, patrol patterns, and camera locations. The Tactical Simulation challenge mode in 007 First Light, known as TacSim, offers a mix of escalations and operations. While some elements like The Garden Party level provide enjoyable stealth experiences, other parts of TacSim fall short of expectations.

The mode features challenges with varying difficulty tiers and standalone missions that remix small sections of campaign levels with new objectives. Players can earn leaderboard spots and points for weapon and gadget upgrades by completing these missions. However, the fragmented nature of TacSim detracts from the cohesive experience of the main campaign.

Despite its potential for replayability, TacSim lacks the depth and flexibility that define Hitman's endgame. With only a handful of levels available, the mode struggles to maintain engagement beyond a few initial plays. Operations like Clean Infiltration show promise with their sandbox-like design, reminiscent of Hitman's gameplay, but overall, TacSim fails to capture the brilliance of Hitman's endgame.
