During Zeverland’s second playtest, we got a glimpse at the early game quests, the path to starting our own settlement, and dipped our toes into the deadly city raids, attempting to find valuable plunder while risking transformative zombie infection. The game's unique art style, resembling Funko Pop figures, initially felt off-putting but grew on us over time. Despite its playful appearance, the gameplay offers a serious survival challenge with both solo and co-op modes on private servers.
Zeverland sets itself apart with its exaggerated character designs and humorous elements, creating a juxtaposition with the dark narrative. Players can expect familiar survival gameplay mechanics such as scavenging for resources, crafting items, and leveling up skills through experience points. The game encourages creativity in weapon crafting, allowing for unique and sometimes comical combinations.
With a focus on both life and combat skills, players can progress through deep skill trees without the need for excessive grinding. Improving skills like first aid for better healing items or enhancing weapon abilities can significantly impact gameplay, especially in intense combat situations. Zeverland offers a blend of light-hearted fun and challenging survival mechanics, making it a promising addition to the genre.
