Zero Parades Dev Faces Layoffs Despite Critical Acclaim

Another day, another layoff announcement. This time it comes from Zero Parades: For Dead Spies developer ZA/UM, which said on social media that despite the game's critical acclaim, the studio can't sustain the size of its team.

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies developer ZA/UM has announced layoffs despite the game's positive reception. The studio shared on social media that due to the game's commercial performance, they are unable to maintain their current team size. As a result, up to 32 employees have been served redundancy or at-risk notices.

Despite the critical success of Zero Parades, ZA/UM has faced challenges in maintaining its workforce. The studio emphasized its commitment to artistic standards and stated that the layoffs will not alter its core purpose. Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, the studio's second game, received praise for its isometric espionage RPG gameplay and is set to release on PS5 later this year.

2026 has been a turbulent year for the games industry, with several studios experiencing closures and layoffs. ZA/UM joins the list of developers affected by layoffs, including Xbox, Full Circle, Riot Games, and Bluepoint Games.
