Zelda Fan Abandons Ocarina of Time Unreal Engine Remake After a Decade

A talented Nintendo fan has ditched their attempt to recreate The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine after a decade of work, following the announcement of the game's upcoming Switch 2 remake.

YouTuber CryZENx has been working on an unofficial PC version of Nintendo's N64 classic since at least 2016, sharing the progress through numerous YouTube videos. Despite no interference from Nintendo, CryZENx decided to halt the project preemptively.

The anticipation surrounding Nintendo's Switch 2 remake of Ocarina led CryZENx to believe that continued work on the Unreal Engine version would attract unwanted attention. The decision was also influenced by the availability of the official remake, rendering the fan project redundant.

CryZENx, known for not charging for access to the project, has now ceased development officially. The creator is now seeking input from fans on potential future Unreal Engine remakes while expressing gratitude to supporters, both old and new.
