Xbox CEO Criticizes Showing Competitors' Logos During Xbox Showcase

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma admits it was a mistake for Microsoft to display PlayStation and Nintendo logos during Xbox broadcasts and is considering adjustments for future events.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma acknowledged Microsoft's error in showcasing competitor logos during Xbox broadcasts, stating that they are evaluating how to address this in future events. This decision comes after Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty reaffirmed the inclusion of competitor logos during the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. Microsoft's initial move to display PlayStation and Nintendo logos during broadcasts in February 2025 was praised for transparency, contrasting with PlayStation and Nintendo's practice of only showing their own logos during showcases. While some lauded Microsoft's transparency efforts, others criticized the decision, emphasizing the importance of direct communication with loyal consumers.

With Sharma now leading as Xbox CEO, she aims to refocus on Xbox-exclusives, hinting at a potential shift in strategy. Despite Booty's commitment to transparency, Sharma's response to the backlash has sparked further debate, with some suggesting it may not align with the best interests of Xbox. The Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled for June 7, followed by a dedicated presentation on Gears of War: E-Day.
