Video games and pro wrestling have a long history of influence on each other, but even WWE's Cody Rhodes faced legal trouble from Nintendo for displaying a Triforce symbol.
Video games and pro wrestling have a long history of influence on each other, but even WWE's Cody Rhodes faced legal trouble from Nintendo for displaying a Triforce symbol.
Current WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes recently revealed that he had to retire the Triforce symbol from The Legend of Zelda on his boots after receiving a cease and desist letter from Nintendo. Rhodes explained that he found the Triforce's principles of power, courage, and wisdom to be relevant to his persona. Despite also having a Triforce tattoo on his finger, Nintendo did not ask him to remove it, considering it too small to be visible on TV.
Rhodes, known for his interest in gaming, is set to appear in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie as William F. Guile later this year. The wrestler shared his experience with the cease and desist in an episode of WWE's What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast.
