Windrose developer Kraken Express released a new update to address SSD overworking issues on the pirate ship, allowing players' solid-state drives to finally relax.
Kraken Express, the developer of Windrose, identified that the game was overworking players' SSDs, leading to potential damage. The update, Patch Version: 0.10.0.4.268-9d2ca277, was rolled out on April 30 to resolve excessive data writing and save-file issues that were affecting SSD health. Initially released on April 14, the game was writing an excessive amount of data to the disk, causing concerns among players about the longevity of their SSDs. By reducing the data read and write rates, the latest patch aims to alleviate these worries and ensure a smoother gaming experience for Windrose players.
Players had raised concerns about the strain the game was putting on their SSDs, with reports indicating that Windrose was reading and writing up to 108GB of data per hour during regular gameplay. This high data usage was comparable to continuously charging a battery, leading to wear and tear concerns. With the latest update, Kraken Express aims to optimize the game's data usage, providing a more sustainable experience for players and safeguarding the health of their SSDs.
