Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Deathwatch Details Revealed

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Deathwatch was perhaps the biggest surprise coming out of the Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Deathwatch, the sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, focuses on the Deathwatch faction, combining units from various Space Marine chapters. The game introduces six enemy factions, new units like the Leman Russ tank, Astra Militarum, and Inquisition units. Lead designer Peter Schnabl and producer Iain Stenhouse shared insights on the game's development and gameplay mechanics.

The Deathwatch offers a unique opportunity to showcase diverse Space Marine chapters, adding tactical depth and variety. While the story isn't a direct continuation, there are connections between the two games. With over 20 playable classes and a squad customization feature, players can expect a rich gameplay experience. The addition of Inquisition units allows for mixing factions, providing flexibility and strategic depth.

The game offers a flexible squad deployment system, allowing players to choose between powerful but fewer units or weaker but numerous units. Missions will vary in scope, offering different tactical challenges. The gameplay mechanics have been adapted to accommodate the new units, ensuring diverse tactical approaches. The presence of enemy factions like Orks and T'au adds complexity and depth to the gameplay experience.
