Valve Provides Update on Steam Machine Reservations

The Steam Machine has quite an extensive reservation list, with Valve announcing that all current reservation list email holders will be able to purchase the console-PC hybrid by the end of the year.

Valve has revealed that all customers with a reservation list email for the Steam Machine will have the opportunity to purchase the device by the end of 2026. Initially, when the Steam Machine was launched, Valve allowed users to reserve it, with accounts randomly selected to be put on either a reservation list or a waitlist. The company has not disclosed the exact number of sign-ups, but the demand is significant enough to require until the end of the year to fulfill all orders.

Valve mentioned variations in demand across regions, indicating that some individuals may transition from the waitlist to the reservation list based on their location. In certain regions, Valve has already completed fulfilling its reservation list. The company had previously anticipated challenges in meeting demand due to the RAM shortage, which led to the Steam Machine being priced higher than initially intended. Despite facing performance-related issues and comparisons to the base PS5, Valve has made CAD files for the Steam Machine's exterior available for 3D printing, along with FSR 4.1 support for compatible games.

The Steam Machine's launch has been turbulent, compounded by the RAM crisis and necessary performance claim adjustments. While the device's power is comparable to the base PS5, users have the option to build a more powerful PC with SteamOS if they prefer a larger setup. Valve has not disclosed specific sales figures for the Steam Machine.
