UK Considering Heavy Restrictions on Children's Online Gaming

The safety and well being of young children who play games like Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft has been an increasingly prominent topic among governments around the world.

The United Kingdom's online safety minister Kanishka Narayan has proposed a potential solution to safeguard children playing online games by prohibiting interactions with strangers on gaming platforms. This suggestion is part of a broader discussion on implementing social media restrictions for teenagers. While no specific games were mentioned, Narayan emphasized the importance of addressing harmful activities on gaming platforms to protect young individuals. Although the UK has not made a final decision on this matter, officials are exploring similar regulations like Australia's ban on social media for children under 16, which excludes gaming platforms but includes restrictions on platforms like Twitch.
