Ubisoft Teases Ghost Recon News for August Celebration

Ubisoft has confirmed that it will share what's next for Ghost Recon when it celebrates the series' 25th anniversary on August 6.

Ubisoft is set to reveal the future of Ghost Recon during the series' 25th-anniversary event on August 6. This announcement follows recent leaks and rumors regarding upcoming Ghost Recon projects. Insider Gaming disclosed details about the Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition, a remastered version of the 2017 title featuring enhanced graphics and a new mission. The leaks also hinted at a new mainline Ghost Recon game to follow this release.

Earlier reports suggested that the upcoming Ghost Recon installment, known as Project OVR, underwent significant changes post an alpha test, such as the removal of certain features. Ubisoft responded to these leaks by confirming a forthcoming announcement on the official Ghost Recon social media account. The last major release in the franchise was Ghost Recon: Breakpoint in 2019, with the canceled Ghost Recon: Frontline battle royale being the most recent project before its discontinuation.

Following internal restructuring at Ubisoft earlier this year, the Ghost Recon development fell under the supervision of Creative House 2, led by Christoph Hartmann. Hartmann, previously associated with 2K Games and Amazon Game Studios, assumed the role of general manager for Creative House 2. The upcoming reveal on August 6 will mark one of the initial projects overseen by Hartmann within this division.
