Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is delayed to February 12, 2027, shifting to avoid GTA 6's release in 2026.
The remake of the original Tomb Raider game, Legacy of Atlantis, will not meet its original 2026 launch date. Sony announced the delay during the State of Play broadcast on June 2, pushing the release to February 12, 2027. This delay puts Legacy of Atlantis after Rockstar's GTA 6, which is set for November 2026. The game is a joint development by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, both under Embracer's umbrella, the owner of the Tomb Raider franchise.
Legacy of Atlantis is described as a 'true reimagining of the original game,' featuring updated gameplay mechanics and stunning visuals in Unreal Engine 5. The delay announcement came alongside the release of a new trailer, offering a glimpse of the refreshed experience awaiting players.
In addition to Legacy of Atlantis, another Tomb Raider title, Tomb Raider Catalyst, is also slated for a 2027 release, making it a big year for the franchise. The delay aligns Legacy of Atlantis with other high-profile game delays, such as the Fable reboot, which also moved to February 2027 from its initial 2026 target.
