Tom Cruise Talks About Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s 'Totally Original'

I was among the members of the press invited to a trailer launch event last week for director Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film, Digger, starring Tom Cruise.

Billed as “a comedy of catastrophic proportions,” the trailer – now online – shows a nearly unrecognizable Cruise as tycoon Digger Rockwell, whose oil drilling operation sparks a global disaster.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Tom Cruise both expressed how Digger is a project unlike anything they have done before. Cruise highlighted the level of detail and layers involved in the film, emphasizing its total originality.

Digger, a dark comedy, is set to challenge both Cruise and Iñárritu in new ways, promising a unique cinematic experience. Warner Bros. has scheduled the theatrical release for October 2, 2026.
