Bethesda's Todd Howard has clarified that despite online speculation, there is a strong bond of respect between Bethesda and Obsidian. This comes in response to baseless rumors suggesting Howard's discontent with the success of Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. Howard has expressed admiration for New Vegas and working with Obsidian on multiple occasions. He mentioned that Bethesda is keen on collaborating with Obsidian again, with the latter currently developing a new Fallout game.

Obsidian, known for Fallout: New Vegas, is now working on a new installment in the Fallout series. Despite recent staff cuts at Obsidian following Microsoft's restructuring, the studio remains committed to the new Fallout project. Meanwhile, Bethesda has revealed plans for Fallout 5 in pre-production, along with remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Additionally, a prequel story tied to Fallout 3 is set to be introduced in Fallout 76.
