The screenplay will be crafted by Alexandre Aja, director of films like Crawl and Piranha 3D, along with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, known for writing films in The Conjuring series and both Aquaman movies.
The announcement was made during the Dead by Daylight 10th anniversary broadcast, where Thordur Palsson expressed his desire to capture the essence of playing the game on the big screen. Iconic in-game locations such as The MacMillan Estate and Greenville are set to be featured in the film, which is scheduled to start filming in 2027.
Originally revealed in March 2023, the Dead by Daylight movie project is still in its early stages, with the selection of a screenwriter and director only recently finalized. Developed by Behaviour Interactive, the game Dead by Daylight is a popular online asymmetric multiplayer survival-horror title known for its collaborations with various horror franchises like Halloween, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil.
The game was initially launched on PC in 2016 and has since expanded to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
