The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past Reveal Date Confirmed

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past will be revealed at gamescom 2026 during Opening Night Live, CD Projekt has announced.

Songs of the Past is the third expansion for CD Projekt’s fantasy masterpiece, and is due out in 2027 — 12 years after the original game came out and 11 years after the much-loved second expansion, Blood and Wine. CD Projekt said it is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising 'industry veterans' who worked on The Witcher 3. The expansion will launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, returning players to the role of Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure. CD Projekt has hinted that Songs of the Past will lead into The Witcher 4, acting as a prologue to the upcoming game.

During a recent livestream, CD Projekt shared hints about the expansion, including the focus on Geralt's new third sword and the presence of his companion Dandelion. The company also teased the importance of a springtime festival and a mysterious new sword featured in the expansion's artwork. Songs of the Past will be in line with the size and quality of previous expansions like Blood and Wine, and will include more Gwent cards. CD Projekt is also working on cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3. Fans can expect to see a trailer and gameplay reveal at ONL on August 25.

The Witcher 3 has reached 65 million copies sold, with CD Projekt currently busy with The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 in development.
