The Pokémon Company collaborates with J League, Japan’s top professional soccer association, to match each of the J League’s 60 teams with its own Pokémon.

The Pokémon Company has revealed a collaboration with J League, where each of the 60 teams in Japan’s professional soccer league will have its own Pokémon partner. The selected Pokémon are tailored to match the characteristics of each team. For instance, Roasso Kumamoto will be paired with Ponyta, reflecting the club’s horse logo and mascot. Similarly, Akita Blaublitz will receive Horsea, a seahorse Pokémon, which evolves into the Water/Dragon-type Kingdra, mirroring the team’s mascot, a blue dragon named Blaugon.

As the J League’s catchphrase is “Evolution! The J League is evolving,” the collaboration is set to launch on August 7, distributing 1 million Pokémon eco bags with unique designs at each club’s home ground. These bags will feature the club’s partner Pokémon on one side and a special Pikachu design on the other. Additionally, exclusive collaboration merchandise will be available for purchase, catering to both soccer and Pokémon enthusiasts.
