A survival sailing adventure game, The Odyssey: Defy the Gods, is out now on Roblox, offering players the chance to assemble a crew, ration supplies, and navigate the ocean while appeasing the gods for safe passage. Players will explore mysterious worlds to find food and missing crew members, facing survival challenges akin to Odysseus' journey. Rated 'Minimal' for maturity, the game is restricted to players aged 18 and above due to occasional/mild fear and violence content.
Universal Pictures leveraged Roblox's popularity by creating Defy the Gods as a promotional tie-in to Christopher Nolan's movie, targeting a younger audience on the platform to generate interest in the film. The Odyssey, directed by Nolan and featuring a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson, is based on Homer's epic tale and marks Nolan's return to filmmaking following 2023's successful Oppenheimer.
