The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has clarified that the nods to the Vought Rising spinoff show in Season 5 were not driven by commercial motives.

The recent episodes of The Boys have sparked discussions among fans regarding the direction of the storyline, particularly focusing on side characters like Soldier Boy and Bombsight. Despite concerns that these characters were merely a setup for the Vought Rising prequel series, Kripke emphasized that this was not the intention.

In a recent interview with The Watch, Kripke discussed the creative process behind Vought Rising, which delves into the origins of key characters from the main series set in the 1950s. He highlighted the importance of giving the main series characters a proper conclusion in Season 5.

Kripke further explained that the inclusion of Bombsight in the narrative was a collaborative decision between The Boys team and Vought Rising showrunner Paul Grellong, aiming to organically integrate both shows. The show is currently in its final season, with the finale scheduled for May 20, while Vought Rising is set to debut in early 2027.
