You might have seen reports that GTA 6 will have a 60fps mode, but tech experts cast doubt on this possibility due to the game's demanding nature.
The tech experts at Digital Foundry have expressed skepticism regarding the existence of a 60fps mode in GTA 6 for current-gen consoles. They believe that the level of detail in the game's visuals poses a significant challenge for achieving higher framerates. Despite recent screenshots and videos, no official confirmation has been made by Rockstar.
Due to the heavy demands on CPU performance in simulation-heavy games like GTA 6, Digital Foundry predicts a 30fps experience on consoles, stating that achieving 60fps seems unlikely. Even the more powerful PS5 Pro may struggle to reach 60fps, with a potential 40fps mode being a more realistic expectation. Rockstar's history of prioritizing fidelity over framerate further supports this analysis.
In addition to framerate rumors, other speculations around GTA 6, such as a physical disc version, have been debunked. Analysts suggest that Rockstar's decision to forego a disc release aligns with commercial considerations, despite potential backlash from core gamers. IGN's poll results indicate a strong interest in the game's pricier Ultimate Edition.
