Talladega Nights nearly got a sequel, and it would've taken Ricky Bobby overseas.
In a recent interview, director Adam McKay shared that the sequel to Talladega Nights would have seen Ricky Bobby joining an F1 team in Europe. The plot involved Bobby racing in Denmark or the Netherlands, facing challenges not only on the track but also in navigating the differences between Europe's political landscape and America's.
Despite the promising concept, the sequel never materialized due to the exhaustion of the team behind the film. McKay and actor Will Ferrell, who co-founded Gary Sanchez Productions, parted ways in 2019, leading to the dissolution of the company.
Although the idea of a sequel may seem appealing given the current F1 popularity, the creative differences and personal changes between McKay and Ferrell make it highly unlikely that Talladega Nights 2 will ever come to fruition.
