Switch 2 Systems to Feature Swappable Batteries in Europe

The Switch 2 will come with swappable batteries in Europe due to EU regulations, with various accessories also getting user-replaceable batteries.

Nintendo of Europe has announced that the Switch 2 will be equipped with a 5172mAh swappable battery, making it slightly heavier than the current model. The system's weight will increase by 10 grams to 411 grams, and when paired with the new Joy-Con 2 controllers, it will weigh 548 grams, an increase of 14 grams.

The updated Joy-Con 2 controllers will be available in winter and will see a 2-gram weight increase due to the batteries. The Switch 2 Pro Controller, also launching in winter, will have a 16% decrease in battery capacity, making it lighter by 7 grams at 228 grams. Additionally, the Nintendo 64 and GameCube controllers for Switch 2 will receive revised editions with swappable batteries early next year.

The Nintendo 64 controller will have a 1-gram weight increase, while the GameCube controller will see a 5% battery capacity increase and a 5-gram weight gain. Meanwhile, the original Joy-Con controllers are being replaced with new models in Europe, maintaining the same battery capacity and weight.
