Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds has released the game’s third hotfix, tweaking creature behavior to address player concerns about predator encounters.
Unknown Worlds, the developer of Subnautica 2, has rolled out the third hotfix for the game following its early access debut. This update focuses on adjusting the behavior of in-game creatures in response to feedback regarding the difficulty of dealing with predators. While the developers have no plans to allow players to directly kill predators, they are implementing changes to make interactions with these creatures more manageable.
The hotfix includes alterations such as Hammerheads no longer attacking unpiloted Tadpoles, increased spacing between Marrowbreach attacks, reduced perception range for Nibblers, and extended circling duration before Nibblers engage players. Additionally, the update introduces tweaks like enhanced creature flinches to provide clearer feedback when interacting with fish in the game.
Subnautica 2 has achieved significant success, selling over 4 million copies since its early access launch on May 14 and garnering more than 467,000 peak concurrent players on Steam. The game's unexpected triumph led to publisher Krafton agreeing to a $250 million earnout for the developers, resolving a previous legal dispute. For players looking to enhance their Subnautica 2 experience, various guides are available to assist with gameplay mechanics and resource locations.
