Steam Game Removed for Malware Exposure

Another title on Steam has been exposed for unleashing malware on unsuspecting buyers and removed by Valve.

A popular YouTube account, Eric Parker, revealed how the free-to-play survival-horror game Beyond the Dark was designed to steal data from players. The malware was concealed in a file named UnityPlayer.dll. Steam took action by removing Beyond the Dark from its platform. Interestingly, PCGamesN pointed out that the game was initially on Steam as Rodent Race in December 2024, indicating a suspicious switch. The FBI's investigation into malware-infected games on Steam, possibly linked to the same perpetrator, continues. Valve had previously introduced security measures on Steam to prevent such incidents, yet cases of malware infections persisted. The FBI urges anyone who downloaded infected games from Steam between May 2024 and January 2026 to report it on their website.
