Steam Game Removed Due to Malware Exposure

Another title on Steam has been exposed for unleashing malware on unsuspecting buyers and removed by Valve.

Valve recently removed the free-to-play survival-horror game Beyond the Dark from Steam after it was discovered to contain malware designed to steal data from players. The exposure came after YouTuber Eric Parker shared a video revealing how the malicious file UnityPlayer.dll was used in the game. Originally named Rodent Race when uploaded in December 2024, the game underwent a name change to Beyond the Dark, possibly to evade Valve's security measures. This incident follows a trend of games being removed from Steam due to security concerns.

PCGamesN highlighted the situation, noting the game's suspicious behavior and the subsequent removal by Steam. The collaboration between the gaming community and platforms like Steam and YouTube showcases the importance of vigilance in ensuring user safety and security within the gaming industry.
