Recent reports suggest that the agreement between Microsoft and the new owner of Undead Labs does not mandate the game's inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. Contrary to the initial announcement, there are no specific clauses in the deal requiring State of Decay 3 to be part of the subscription service.
Furthermore, Xbox's recent revelations about Undead Labs and Ninja Theory being sold to undisclosed buyers have raised questions. It is anticipated that more information regarding the acquisition of Undead Labs will be disclosed later this summer. Meanwhile, significant staff reductions have been witnessed at Xbox, with Double Fine and Compulsion Games reverting to independent status. Job cuts have also affected Id Software and ZeniMax Online Studios.
