Veteran Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal hopes Tom Holland will play the role 'forever,' despite discussions about passing on the character to a younger star.
Holland is set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and has hinted at returning for at least one more sequel. However, he has expressed interest in eventually passing on the Spider-Man mantle to a new actor. Sony is eager to retain Holland, especially with the anticipated success of Brand New Day, which broke viewing records.
Pascal expressed her desire for Holland to continue portraying Spider-Man for a long time. She emphasized the importance of each movie standing on its own while hoping that Holland remains as Spider-Man indefinitely.
Holland, who first played Spider-Man at 19 in 2026's Captain America: Civil War, is now 30 and a key figure in the MCU. While his involvement beyond Brand New Day remains unconfirmed, fans expect to see him in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
Despite previously suggesting he wouldn't play Spider-Man after 30, Holland now jokes about extending it to 37. He also expressed interest in setting up the franchise for a new Spider-Man or Spider-Woman to take over the role.
While discussing passing on the Spider-Man role, Holland mentioned 16-year-old actor Owen Cooper as a potential successor. Whether Holland's remarks are negotiation tactics for Spider-Man 5 remains to be seen, but Sony appears keen on retaining him for now.
