Steven S. DeKnight's Spartacus: House of Ashur has reportedly been canceled at Starz after just one season.
Deadline reported that the alternate timeline spin-off concluded with 10 episodes earlier this year due to insufficient viewership. The show's audience did not align with Starz's target demographic, leading to its cancellation. Lionsgate Television is currently seeking other platforms for the series, although no potential buyers have been revealed yet.
Spartacus: House of Ashur Season 1, which premiered last year, explores an alternate timeline where Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) survives past Spartacus: Vengeance events. The cast includes Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Claudia Black, and Jamaica Vaughan. Despite Starz initially picking up the series in 2023, the split with Lionsgate in May 2025 has left the show's ownership with the latter.
The official description teases the storyline: 'What if Ashur lived, rewarded with the gladiator school where he once bled?' As the show remains in uncertainty, fans can revisit IGN's original 8.5/10 review of Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
