Sonic's 35th Anniversary Celebrated with Chaos Hunt Game

The 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog is arriving later this year, and one of the ways that Sega is celebrating the event is a new ARG game called Chaos Hunt.

Sega is marking Sonic the Hedgehog's 35th anniversary with a new alternate reality game (ARG) named Chaos Hunt. Fans are encouraged to search for missing Chaos Emeralds, but a closer look at the fine print is advised. The game's terms of service reveal that players must consent to AI model training and sharing their information with third-party AI vendors.

The terms assure that efforts are made to prevent third-party providers from using players' personal data for AI model development. These providers are obligated to safeguard the collected data. As part of the celebration, Sega unveiled a video where Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka announces that Dr. Robotnik stole the Chaos Emeralds before Club Chaos's opening. Three lucky winners will earn a trip to New York City for Club Chaos, with tickets available for purchase starting August 28.

Prizes in the Chaos Hunt include a variety of items such as a Leblon Delienne statue, Lego Sega Genesis, Sonic 35th-anniversary letterman jacket, and more. Sega has also partnered with iam8bit to release 35th-anniversary Sega Genesis cartridges for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Additionally, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will introduce collaborations with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Godzilla, Avatar Legends, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
