Director Jon McKellan revealed that the decision to make Silent Hill: Townfall a first-person game was clear from the beginning. The game's central mechanic, Simon's handheld CRTV, played a significant role in this choice as it is essential for solving puzzles and navigating the survival-horror gameplay. McKellan emphasized that trying to incorporate the CRTV in a third-person view would disrupt the immersive experience.
Screen Burn, the developer behind Silent Hill: Townfall, has a history of creating first-person games, including Stories Untold and Observation. McKellan's experience as an artist on Alien: Isolation also influenced the team's decision. Silent Hill: Townfall is set to launch on PS5 and PC on September 24.
