Shift Up CEO Discusses Design of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain's New Main

The boss of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain developer Shift Up has discussed the design of new main character Evie, highlighting the differences between her and the protagonist of the first game, Eve.

Shift Up revealed the new main character, Evie, at Summer Game Fest, showcasing her preference for hand-to-hand combat over the slashing style of Eve. The design of Evie sparked discussions due to her youthful appearance contrasting with her mature voice and combat style. CEO Hyung-tae Kim explained that making Evie younger and part of a special squad was a deliberate choice to differentiate her from Eve.

Kim addressed concerns about Evie's design, emphasizing that her personality and combat prowess make her a compelling character beyond her appearance. He hinted at even more provocative outfits for Evie in the sequel, maintaining the series' tradition. The decision to introduce Evie as the new protagonist was driven by a desire to enhance Eve's backstory and offer a fresh narrative perspective in the sequel.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is positioned as the next installment in the franchise, set in the same universe as the original game. While details about the launch platforms are pending, Shift Up aims for a multi-platform release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
