Senua Game 'Senua' Announced for 2027 Release

Xbox has announced Senua, a continuation of Ninja Theory’s Hellblade series.

Xbox has revealed 'Senua', the next installment in Ninja Theory's Hellblade series, set to release in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5. The game promises a more gameplay-driven experience while expanding on the narrative foundations of the previous titles. The debut trailer showcased familiar elements like Senua's combat skills, whispering voices symbolizing her psychosis, and a world filled with enemies and mysteries.

The game, referred to simply as 'Senua' instead of 'Hellblade 3', aims to offer a fresh and different style of gameplay. Players can expect deeper combat mechanics, focus abilities for traversal, puzzle-solving, and combat, and a world about twice the size of Hellblade 2's map. Despite the expanded gameplay elements, 'Senua' remains a linear story experienced through interconnected locations, not an open-world adventure.

Senua's journey in 'Senua' takes place in her vision of purgatory, her childhood homeland, as she seeks to reunite with lost loved ones. The game is designed as a standalone sequel that newcomers can enjoy without prior knowledge of the series. This announcement confirms the return of Hellblade as a more game-focused experience, defying concerns raised by initial sales and Game Pass performance.
