Screen Burn, known for cult-classics like Stories Untold and Observation, described working on the Silent Hill spin-off as a confidence booster. The game was announced during Konami's 2022 livestream, where the studio was entrusted with the iconic survival-horror franchise. Game director Jon McKellan mentioned that Screen Burn had significant autonomy in shaping the project, ensuring it complemented the existing Silent Hill universe.
The release of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F was well-received, setting high expectations for Townfall. Despite the pressure, the positive reception to the previous titles has bolstered the team's confidence. Townfall, a first-person survival-horror game set in the fictional Scottish town of St. Amelia, marks a departure from its predecessors. Screen Burn aims to create a lasting impact with the game, emphasizing their ambition to spark discussions for years to come.
