Remedy Aims to Boost Player Base for Alan Wake and Control

Remedy Entertainment aims to increase player base for its games like Alan Wake and Control by focusing on maximizing the potential of its existing IPs through cross-media projects and self-publishing.

Remedy Entertainment, known for critically acclaimed games like Alan Wake and Control, is looking to address the issue of not reaching enough players despite positive reviews. The company's new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, plans to enhance Remedy's identity for creating unique games while expanding the reach of its intellectual properties (IPs). Gaudechon highlighted the importance of building a strong community around their franchises and expressed regret that both Alan Wake and Control didn't achieve higher sales figures.

To tackle this challenge, Remedy has partnered with Annapurna to develop TV shows and movies based on Alan Wake and Control, aiming to attract a broader audience. Gaudechon emphasized the need to focus on existing IPs as franchises and maximize their potential through various initiatives. The company is also venturing into self-publishing, leveraging its distinct voice in crafting unconventional single-player experiences to promote its upcoming projects.

One of Remedy's upcoming releases is Control: Resonant, a sequel to the popular game Control. Unlike its predecessor, Control: Resonant will feature melee combat in a surreal version of Manhattan, offering players a unique gameplay experience. The game is set to launch later this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, fans of Alan Wake can participate in a crossover event with the horror game Phasmophobia, adding to the excitement for players of both titles.
