Sony is facing challenges due to console price increases, with PS5 sales declining by 36% compared to the same period in 2025. The ongoing shortage of components has led to higher PS5 prices, contrary to the usual trend of decreasing prices over time. Despite this, software unit sales are slightly up year-on-year, reaching 66.1 million. Sony also saw an increase in digital game sales and monthly active users.
While profits increased by 37%, hardware sales revenue dropped by almost 10%. Sony mentioned that it has secured enough memory for PS5 production this year. The upcoming release of GTA 6 is expected to boost sales during the holiday season.
