As Pokemon games have grown in scope, so too have the production standards for them. For Pokemon Winds and Waves, a full orchestra was brought in to record the main theme. The Tokyo-based NHK Symphony Orchestra session was recorded, showcasing the numerous musicians involved in creating the new Pokemon soundtrack. The music incorporated strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, resulting in a classical yet stirring take on the traditional Pokemon theme. This iconic theme, first composed in 1996 by Junichi Masuda, has been remixed over the years while maintaining its core sound, similar to other legendary themes like Star Wars or Legend of Zelda.
