Pokémon TCG: Pitch Black Expansion Revealed

If you’ve been enjoying your Mega Evolution year so far, there’s some good news - The Mega Evolution—Pitch Black expansion has officially been announced by The Pokémon Company, and it’s looking like the dark, brooding sibling to the bright Ascended Heroes cards we’ve been chasing all spring.

The brand-new Pitch Black Pokémon TCG collection, Mega Evolution—Pitch Black, is set to release on July 17, 2026. While pre-order details are yet to be confirmed, fans are advised to stay tuned to the official Pokémon Center website for updates. The collection will feature over 115 cards, including Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Pokémon ex, Illustration Rare Pokémon, Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards, and more.

Players can participate in standard Prereleases from July 4th to July 12th at local stores, offering early access to the new expansion cards. Digital-only players can look forward to Pokémon TCG Live integrating the set on July 16, just before the physical launch. Notable Mega Evolution Pokémon in the expansion include Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex.

In addition to Mega Darkrai ex, the set will introduce other powerful cards like Zarude Illustration Rare. The Pokémon Company seems to be gearing up for more releases, with Chaos Rising and Storm Emeralda already on the horizon, promising an exciting period for Pokémon TCG enthusiasts.
