PlayStation reportedly dropped its future plans for PC games due to the inconsistency of previous games and their lack of revenue.
PlayStation reportedly decided to abandon PC as a platform for single-player games due to the inconsistency and revenue issues of previous PC releases. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Herman Hulst mentioned that the PC ports were deemed 'inconsistent' and not financially successful. As a result, PlayStation aims to keep its major franchises exclusive to its own hardware.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, there will be no more PlayStation titles making the transition to PC on a case-by-case basis. While live-service games will still be supported on PC, narrative-driven single-player games will remain exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
Schreier shared insights from a townhall meeting where Hulst emphasized the need to maintain PlayStation exclusivity for their single-player narrative games. The decision was influenced by the inconsistent nature of PC releases, their financial performance, and the strategic alignment of IP with PlayStation platforms.
