Following a series of leaks earlier this week, Sega and Atlus have officially revealed Persona 6, the next mainline entry in the long-running RPG series.
The trailer for Persona 6 was quite mysterious, showcasing a dark and ominous environment resembling a cemetery illuminated by green light. This color choice is significant as green has been linked to Persona 6 rumors for some time. Each mainline Persona game is associated with a specific color, such as red for Persona 5, yellow for Persona 4, and blue for Persona 3. The trailer confirmed that Persona 6 will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
This announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Persona franchise. Despite the last mainline release being Persona 5 in 2016, the series has expanded significantly. Persona 5 received a major update with Persona 5 Royal in 2019, and Atlus has developed various spin-off titles over the past decade, including rhythm games, a Nintendo 3DS dungeon-crawler, a collaboration with Dynasty Warriors, and a well-received remake of Persona 3: Reload. Atlus is also in the process of remaking Persona 4, promising to maintain the original story while enhancing the visuals and mechanics for modern audiences. The game is scheduled for release on February 28, 2027, with a new trailer premiering during the Xbox Games Showcase. For those interested in exploring the world of JRPGs, Persona 5: Royal will join the Xbox Game Pass library on June 9.
