Paramount Games Eyes Yellowstone and Tulsa King Video Games

Paramount Games is extremely interested in making video games based on Taylor Sheridan's various TV shows, including Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Lionness.

Paramount Games recently announced the launch of its gaming division, Paramount Games, dedicated to developing games based on the company's major properties. The first project in the pipeline is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, with plans for more AAA games inspired by Paramount's key franchises. Shawn Kittelsen, head of creative and production at Paramount Games Studio, highlighted Yellowstone as a top priority for their gaming endeavors.

Kittelsen emphasized the importance of Yellowstone and related titles like Landman and Tulsa King in their development roadmap. While no active projects are underway, there is a keen interest in exploring game adaptations of these shows. The potential game concepts range from narrative-driven experiences akin to Telltale games to open-world crime settings inspired by GTA or Mafia.

Paramount's past success with The Godfather video game series was mentioned, hinting at the possibilities for future adaptations. However, the focus on mature audiences with shows like Yellowstone and Tulsa King poses challenges for traditional gaming approaches. Paramount Games aims for strategic partnerships and quality over quantity to ensure the success of their licensed games.

Shawn Kittelsen stressed the importance of a fan-centric approach and careful selection of development partners to maintain brand integrity. The studio's strategy revolves around creating impactful games tailored to the audience's preferences, rather than mass-producing generic titles. Meanwhile, Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone, is involved in writing a Call of Duty movie slated for a 2028 summer release under Paramount.
