After two and a half years in early access, the Pokemon-like game Palworld has reached 40 million players before its 1.0 release.
After two and a half years in early access, the Pokemon-like game Palworld has reached 40 million players before its 1.0 release.
Developer Pocketpair announced the milestone shortly before the game's significant 1.0 update, introducing major changes to enhance the game. The developer expressed gratitude to the community for the support received throughout Palworld's growth. While the player count reaching 40 million does not directly translate to 40 million copies sold, the game's popularity is evident from its high rankings on Steam and inclusion in Xbox's Game Pass subscription.
With the 1.0 launch scheduled for July 10, players can anticipate new Pals to capture, an improved combat system, and revamped raid mechanics. Additionally, updates will feature enhanced quests and main storyline missions to delve deeper into the game world. Despite initial considerations for a price increase post-1.0 release, Pocketpair decided to maintain Palworld's price at $29.99, acknowledging the game's success and expressing gratitude to the player base for their support.
Palworld is currently playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, with Nintendo platforms not hosting the game due to a legal dispute resulting from patent-infringement allegations in 2024. Updates in 2025 adjusted game mechanics to address the legal concerns.
