This week marks the 49th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie, and Hello Games appears to be paying homage to the seminal flick with its “mysterious Death Star-like construct” that will debut in No Man’s Sky’s latest update, The Swarm.
Hello Games is set to release the latest update for No Man’s Sky, titled The Swarm, featuring a Death Star-like structure reminiscent of Star Wars. The update will last around eight weeks and introduce a new threat called the Swarm, targeting all travelers in the galaxy. Players will need to collaborate in three teams to confront this menace, with the winning team receiving recognition in the game's Space Anomaly.
The Swarm update promises epic space battles, including battles with robotic drones released by the Hive of Glass. This massive weapon is capable of destroying entire fleets and planets. Players will have to heal contaminated worlds, investigate Swarm wreckage for clues, and engage in salvage missions that pose new dangers. The update also includes new rewards such as posters, decals, and weapons like the Direwasp rifle Multi-Tool.
Players will encounter new enemies during the expedition, including small swarmer ships and the formidable Hive of Glass boss. The update also brings stability and optimization improvements, fixes for crashes, and enhancements to space combat mechanics. Players can expect better performance in various aspects of the game, from ship piloting to freighter battles and object visibility.
Other quality of life improvements and bug fixes include adjustments to space combat controls, notifications, and teleporter endpoints. Hello Games continues to enhance the No Man’s Sky experience with each update, offering players new challenges, rewards, and gameplay enhancements.
