As of March 31, 2026, the Nintendo Switch has sold 155.92 million units, making it Nintendo's top-selling console. This places the Switch close to Sony's PlayStation 2, which holds the title of the best-selling console with 160 million units sold by March 31, 2024. The Switch 2 has sold 19.86 million units by the same date, surpassing the lifetime sales of the Nintendo DS at 154 million units. Nintendo forecasts a decrease in Switch 2 sales in the second year on the market, estimating around 16.5 million units due to various global factors.
In 2024, Sony revised the PS2 sales figure as the Nintendo Switch closed the gap in sales. Initially, 155 million PS2 units were sold compared to 143.42 million Switch consoles in August of that year. The final count was adjusted after the last PS2 unit was produced.
