Nintendo Removes Description Hinting at Faithful Remake for The Legend

Nintendo has removed a hidden description for its new The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, that fans say pointed to a faithful update of the N64 original.

Nintendo recently removed a hidden description from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, which fans believed hinted at a faithful adaptation of the N64 classic. The description was initially discovered by keen-eyed Nintendo enthusiasts in the website code for Zelda's Switch 2 product page. However, shortly after fans began discussing its implications online, the description was promptly taken down.

Following a leak and extensive speculation, the new Ocarina of Time version for Switch 2 was unveiled during a Nintendo Direct broadcast last week. Despite this, very little information has been disclosed about the game. Nintendo deliberately maintained an air of mystery surrounding the project, even in its brief teaser trailer that lasted only a few seconds.

Fans caught a glimpse of a tapestry and a sleeping young Link with a Triforce mark on his hand. Although this clip showcased the game's art style, it revealed little about the gameplay. Fans were left to speculate whether the new version would be a complete reimagining similar to Capcom's approach with Resident Evil games or Square Enix's treatment of Final Fantasy 7, or if it would be more of a faithful shot-for-shot remake. The now-deleted description seems to lean towards the latter option.

According to the removed description, the game was described as, "The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay." Fans have interpreted the mention of 'timeless gameplay' to imply an experience that will resonate with players familiar with the original game, rather than a complete overhaul.
