Nintendo President Addresses Pokémon Card Scalping Issues

Nintendo's president discusses the widespread scalping issues plaguing Pokémon trading cards, with measures being taken by The Pokémon Company to combat the problem.

Nintendo's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, acknowledged the challenges faced by fans due to card shortages and scalping. The issue has escalated to armed thefts and criminal activities, prompting concerns among the community. Furukawa mentioned that The Pokémon Company is implementing strategies like made-to-order sales and account verification methods to address the problem.

The Pokémon Company revealed staggering sales figures, indicating the immense popularity of Pokémon cards, with 85 billion cards produced to date. Despite manufacturing 10 billion cards in 2025 alone, demand continues to outstrip supply. With the upcoming 30th-anniversary set in September, efforts to meet demand are ongoing.

Efforts to combat scalping and ensure fair access to Pokémon cards are underway, with both Nintendo and The Pokémon Company working together to find solutions for fans.
