Nintendo Adjusts The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie Release Date

Nintendo has announced a change to the release date of its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, which will launch earlier than previously expected.

Nintendo has shifted the release date of its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie to April 30, 2027, a week earlier than initially planned for May 7, 2027. The reason for this change was not specified, but Shigeru Miyamoto, a key figure at Nintendo, expressed the company's dedication to completing the movie promptly for its fans. Miyamoto shared the update via Nintendo's social media channels, emphasizing the team's united effort to accelerate production for an earlier delivery.

The original March release window for Zelda was postponed to early May before this recent adjustment. Despite lacking direct competition on its previous date, the new release date places Zelda amidst a competitive period in the movie industry, with other major films like Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and Star Wars: Starfighter also scheduled for release around the same time. Nintendo has kept most details about the Zelda movie confidential, including its storyline and characters beyond Link and Zelda, portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason, respectively.

Filming for the movie, which took place in New Zealand, has concluded. Director Wes Ball aims to create a serious and realistic adaptation that resonates with audiences. Additionally, there are rumors of Nintendo working on a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the upcoming Switch 2 console.
