French publisher Nacon has revealed the next official World Rally Championship game is being developed by a new studio called Grit Games.
Nacon has announced that the upcoming World Rally Championship game, WRC 2027, is in development by Grit Games, a new studio in the scene. Despite expectations for the series to return to KT Racing, the previous developer, this new installment will be crafted by Grit Games from scratch using Unreal Engine 5. Little information has been disclosed so far, except that the game will be a fresh project with ties to the 2026 Monte Carlo Rally.
Notably, the Grit Games team includes former KT Racing staff such as Hardouin Pouzet, Alexandre Assier, and Laura Gayet. Nacon secured the WRC license for 2027 to 2032 after Codemasters halted further WRC game development. The WRC series was previously developed by Kylotonn and published by Nacon, with WRC 4 being an exception developed by Milestone and published by Bigben Interactive.
It's interesting to note that the upcoming WRC game will join the ranks of titles like Assetto Corsa Rally in utilizing Unreal Engine 5, promising a visually impressive experience for players. Stay tuned for more updates on WRC 2027 as development progresses.
