New Lego Donkey Kong Set Brings 1981 Arcade Hit to Life

Lego has unveiled its Donkey Kong Arcade set, paying homage to the iconic 1981 arcade game that featured Mario as Jumpman. The 1,371-piece set is set to release on August 1 with a price tag of $200. Additionally, preorders from The Lego Store will come with a bonus Animal Crossing kit starring Tom Nook valued at $5.
Inside the set, builders will find all the necessary pieces to recreate the classic arcade cabinet from the first stage of Donkey Kong. The set includes intricate details like scaffolding, ladders, hammer features, and a mechanism to move 21 barrels continuously. Although the set does not include minifigures, builders can construct pixel-perfect versions of Jumpman, Donkey Kong, and Lady. Once assembled, the set stands at 15.5 inches tall, 10.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep.
This Donkey Kong set joins Lego's collection of Nintendo-themed sets, with past releases including the Lego Nintendo Game Boy and upcoming kits like the Lego Iconic Trainer Moments: Poke Ball. The new Smart Play line from Nintendo will offer interactive features through Smart Brick pieces, with sets like Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle and Training House Pikachu providing engaging play experiences.
